A small team building AI that respects your work.

We wanted an AI coding tool that doesn't ask for your code, your keys, or permission to meter your bill line by line. So we built Astrea.

AI-assisted development should be local, private, and honest. You choose the model, we keep it simple, and your code stays on your machine where it belongs.

The problem

Most AI tools don't sell you a better way to work, they offer to watch your repository from the cloud. They want everything on your disk, on their terms, behind a bill you can't read.

Astrea works the other way: your code never leaves your machine, the model you pick stays the one you get, and your bill is something you can actually understand.

“Your code shouldn't have to leave your machine to be understood.”
02

Four things we won't budge on

01

You own the model choice

Pick the model you trust, we handle the plumbing, not the policy.

02

Your code is your business

We don't read it, store it, or train on it.

03

The bill makes sense

Every prompt reports what it used and how it was billed, so nothing shows up that you can't trace.

04

The tool gets out of the way

Real work happens in your editor, not in a dashboard.

Our story

“We kept handing over too much, and stopped.”

We used AI assistants for years, and every one of them asked for the whole repository to “help us”. Each time we gave more than felt right and got a black box back.

So we built Astrea to ask the opposite question: what does it take to help without taking anything at all. This is that answer, a desktop assistant that stays out of the cloud, respects your work, and shows you what each prompt cost. We're keeping it small so it stays honest.
